A History of the Google Pixel

Mobile Solutions | A History of the Google Pixel

Everyone is familiar with the name Google, right? but did you realise that Google have been producing smartphones since October 2016 when they launched the Google Pixel and Pixel XL models. Their first attempt at a smartphone was a solid device with good cameras and unlimited cloud storage for all of your pictures on Google Photos.

About one year later they released the Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL smartphones, these devices were very similar to the original Google Pixels however Google had improved the display, processors and general durability of the phones.

With their market share growing each year they carried on developing the Pixel series on a yearly basis, across 2018 and 2019 they released 4 new versions, these were the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL as well as a couple of more affordable versions in the guise of the Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL, these budget versions were still extremely good phones which meant that Google could potentially secure even more market share from their rivals.

They carried on with this strategy on the next generation of Pixel smartphones by launching the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL as well as the cheaper Pixel 4A and the Pixel 4A (5G) This progression takes us to the current flagship model which is the Pixel 5, this has the highest capacity battery that Google have ever used in their Pixel smartphones at 4080mAh. This battery is described as an all-day heavy usage battery with the option of battery sharing that’s how confident Google are in the power of this.
